How To Get All the Benefits of Meditating–Without Meditating.

Thursday, March 22nd, 2012

meditatingDo you know that you can easily get all the benefits of meditating without meditating?

So what kind of benefits am I talking about?

*Increased mental abilities, learning abilities and concentration…

*Greater creativity, Ah-ha! experiences and intuitive powers…

*Release of emotional blockages that sap your energy…

*Elimination of stress and stress-related symptoms such as sleeping problems, anxiety and frustration…

*Delay or reverse the aging process…

In deep meditative states, you experience profound levels of relaxation and your brain wave patterns slow down. As your mind quiets down, you enter deep mind states that have amazing powers.   You increase your mind powers and accelerate physical and emotional healing in ways that will absolutely amaze you.

You can experience all the benefits of meditation—and more– by doing easy meditative-type practices —and without spending years learning how.

Many people have the false belief that the only way to experience the benefits of meditation is to actually “meditate.”  A common misconception is that you need to sit in a certain position or repeat specific sounds AND do this for years before you get noticeable results.

MENTAL ABILITIES INCREASE

Do you know that people who do meditative-type practices tend to have stronger problem-solving abilities than those who don’t?  They also tend to have increased creativity, concentration abilities and greater mental clarity.  Many scientists believe that in deeper mind states, we have the potential to use far more of our minds than the 10% that we commonly use.

EMOTIONAL HEALING ACCELERATES

Not only that, people who regularly experience deeper mind states, also tend to have less fears, anxiety, frustration and sadness.

So what happens when you feel better emotionally?  You benefit from more satisfying personal and work relationships and an overall greater sense of well-being.

BIOCHEMICAL CHANGES DELAY AGING

Do you know that each time you experience deep meditative states, your physical body undergoes amazing transformation?

Medical researchers have found that slower brain wave patterns, triggered by states of deep relaxation, dramatically affect the production of three important hormones related to both increased longevity and physical well-being: Cortisol, DHEA, and melatonin.

1. Cortisol is the major age-accelerating hormone within the brain, and has received a lot of attention recently due to Dr. Perricone’s anti-aging research. In deep states of relaxation, your cortisol level goes way down, which is good.

2. DHEA levels affect aging.  When DHEA levels are low, you age faster and are more susceptible to disease. You want higher DHEA levels to slow down again. Deeper mind states produce greater levels of DHEA.

3.  Melatonin is a hormone that helps to create deep, restful sleep.  It contributes to rejuvenation and slows down the aging process.  Melatonin increases in states of deep relaxation.

In slower brainwave patterns, the brain also produces increased levels of many beneficial brain chemicals, such as pleasure-causing endorphins that melt stress away.  So you can have greater happiness in your life when you learn how to quiet your mind!

MANIFESTING TAKES ON A NEW LEVEL

You can even manifest faster when you consciously use deeper mind states.  Why does manifesting speed up when using deeper mind states?

In slower brain wave patterns, your typical mind filters are bypassed and your affirmations and envisioning go directly to your sub-conscious mind. When an idea takes root in deeper mind states, you create changes at a deep level.

The more you quiet your mind and access deeper levels of consciousness, the more you can access infinite knowledge…the more you can access that inner voice that’s always there to guide you in your life.

The Shamanic Journey–Going Beyond Meditation

Friday, December 31st, 2010

Throughout history, shamans and other wise men and women of knowledge have possessed the power to journey deep within to tap the universal source of information and wisdom.

Shamans have always known that the answers we seek can be found within. Bypassing the stumbling blocks of the outer, material world, they perfected techniques of accessing higher mind levels to find answers, gain insights and achieve profound understandings.

WHY JOURNEY?

The shamanic journey is a technique for accessing higher mind levels to get answers on questions that are important to you, to gain insights and achieve profound understandings. It is a great tool also to use for training the body and mind to enter deep states of total relaxation. At a minimum, you will learn how to release stress and to help heal your total being.

THE SHAMANIC JOURNEY

A shamanic journey enables you to enter a meditative type state, but it is not really “meditation” as meditation is understood and used today. Most meditations are limited or ineffective. Common meditation practices require the person to sit or lie still, and when deeper levels of meditation are reached, the person falls asleep or is nearly comatose. Also typical meditation practices can not be used in a dynamic, moving way.

A journey is not an end result, but a bridge to the higher self-–a force that is always there to guide us. The objective is to avoid getting stuck on the bridge, as is the case with common meditations. You want to cross this bridge between the sub-conscious mind and the higher mind. Once you do, you need to be active rather than passive. That is, you want to ask for guidance, answers and any help that you deeply desire in your life.

PREPARING FOR A JOURNEY

Before beginning a journey, you are advised to focus on a specific question or a subject that you need help with. Your questions can range from the sublime, such as asking what you can do to become enlightened, to the most practical, such as asking about a work related issue.

Have a purpose for your journey. Imagine that you are going to talk to a very old wise man or woman. You will want to be patient, respectful, calm and receptive to everything this wise being has to say.

You can pose your question in one of these ways:

• Will this job offer be a wise decision for me and my family?
• How will the problems in my relationship be resolved?
• How can I make money in an easier and stress-free way that brings me greater happiness?

How A Typical Journey Is Done

Here’s a brief description of how a typical shamanic journey is done: When you are first learning to journey, you sit down or preferably lie down in a relaxing space. In the beginning, it is best to close your eyes and have relaxing music in the background to help you focus. You are guided to follow a relaxation process that includes breathing exercises and releasing body tension. You then imagine a place in nature, such as a forest or desert, where you walk down a path until you reach an entrance, such as a cave opening or an arch that is part of the earth. Once you walk through the entrance, you are guided to use all your senses as you enter a deeply relaxed state. As you journey, you pose a question that is important to you. By accessing a higher mind state, you access messages, insights and guidance that you may not access during normal waking states.

It is advisable to follow a step-by-step guide when you are first learning to journey. Once you train your mind to do shamanic journeys, you can journey by yourself at any time and any place, even while you walk.

The shamanic journey is used for communicating with your higher self–with Spirit. It is practiced to retrieve information from the higher realms of the mind. From ancient times, shamans have used the process of journeying to travel within to access answers, insights, guidance and help from the spiritual realm.

November –Time For Letting Go & Healing

Tuesday, November 2nd, 2010

The main theme for November is resolution and healing.

In this month’s forecast, Lena Stevens, author and co-founder

Below is an excerpt from the November commentary.

The main themes for November are RESOLUTION and HEALING.

You are held in an influence this month that will not let you slide back into unconsciousness about the issues you are dealing with that need to be resolved and healed. The intensity of October has lightened up a bit but you are at the point of no return with some of your personal patterns and wounds that are in front of you for looking at, coming to terms with, resolving and healing at the deepest level. There is no sweeping anything under the rug anymore. This month provides an unparalleled opportunity for being finally done with certain patterns that have plagued you perhaps your whole life. It is truly a time of forgiveness, completion, healing, transformation and moving on.

According to the Mayan calendar, we are moving into a day cycle early this month (November 3). This means that what has been actively seeking healing within you will come to the surface to be dealt with openly, compassionately, creatively and thoroughly. There is no escape from this process but the good news is that the influences are highly supportive to being able to navigate this level of resolution and deep healing. You could say that the timing is right for certain aspects to surface, and for you to have the courage to step up to the plate, to uncover, forgive, heal and move on. This is especially true in the area of relationships and the healing needed around certain relationships both current ones and ones from your past.

In this category of relationships fall the early childhood experiences that have deeply influenced how you navigate your life today. What keeps these influences in place is a basic fear of survival. Your early imprinting was designed to give you the tools for physical survival on the planet. The problem with this is that most of it no longer applies to who you are today. And yet this early childhood imprinting is still driving many of your current reactions, motivations and emotional responses. Many of you have known this and have been actively chipping away at its hold on you. This month you have the opportunity to actually get to the bottom of it and to yank it out by its roots.

What keeps these old patterns calcified in place is your resistance, blame, resentment, shame, stubbornness, martyrdom, disappointment, unwillingness to take responsibility, and lack of faith that anything can ever change. You need to start with completely accepting the concept that you created your grand plan and consciously chose every experience you had in this life. Then with the deepest level of compassion, forgive yourself for all the ways you believe you have not measured up to the task of your life. Then with the deepest level of compassion, forgive everyone else that became tangled in the great web of your grand plan for this life. Keep working towards eliminating the tendencies that keep these patterns stagnant and perpetuating.

What may come as a surprise to many of you is just how easy it is to let go and heal when you finally step off the edge and do it. You may wonder why it took you this long. Timing is everything, and the timing, the influences, the opportunity and the understanding that comes with resolution and completion are all available right now in a clearer more compassionate way than they have ever been before. This is a big boon for relationships of all kinds. In fact there will be a great desire to spend time with family members over the holidays and you may find yourselves feeling a need to heal certain issues within yourselves as a way to bring them to resolution and neutrality. Remember that you can only heal yourself, never another person. However, as older souls you have the ability to set up the stage so to speak, where healing and resolution become possible. You may also find that old relationships surface from your past. They may come into your dreams or you may come across an old correspondence or you may literally hear from them or possibly even run into them unexpectedly. Watch carefully for coincidences and take everything as a sign for further investigation. The completion/resolution theme is a strong one this month and relationships are only one area this will be evident.

Other areas that will seek resolution and completion may be regarding old habits and addictions, body image, coming to terms with aging or an illness or condition, making a choice to let go of an old dream or intention you have been identified with, or finally making a decision about something you have been indecisive about. The areas could include career, finances, investments, job, location, health and well-being, partnerships and all manner of relationships, spiritual life, responsibilities and new intentions. You may finally decide that you are never going to fix the project in the garage that has been sitting there for 10 years and let go of it. You may finally accept and come to terms your weight and body image the way it is and get rid of all those clothes that are the wrong size, or you may decide to take responsibility and do whatever it takes to change it. You may decide you will never finish the college degree or perhaps that you will. Completion is not always about finishing something. It is about finishing whatever process you are in with it. Giving half done sewing projects to Goodwill is definitely a type of completion. The healing that comes from this type of resolution is a deeper acceptance of you without the judgments and the expectations. It is time to take the “someday” out of your vocabulary and give a date and time by when you will intend to resolve or complete those unfinished things, relationships and issues.

The influences this month are more on the feminine side with the intense moving centered activity backing off and giving way to a more feeling environment. Being around water and anything that feeds and nurtures will be very helpful. Comfort foods, staying warm, being protected and part of a community are all elements that will serve you well. This is not the month to push yourself out onto a new ledge of challenge but rather to stay with what is already on your plate and to go as deeply into it as possible for the maximum resolution and healing. This in itself will take a tremendous amount of courage but the reward will be an incredible sense of freedom, abundance, creativity and personal expression.

One of the main tasks this month is to free the mind of mental worry, anxiety and stress. There is a great opportunity to actually experience how mental worry, anxiety and stress don’t accomplish anything and how eliminating them will lead to higher levels of creativity and joy that will end up actually helping you to create the very things you were worried and anxious you couldn’t have. To get to this point you have to literally give up. Just give it up. Give it to spirit because you can no longer figure it out. There is deep healing in just simply letting go. Life is creating itself now from a level of vibration that the mind has not yet adjusted to but is nevertheless trying to understand and control. The feminine aspect of the month supports moving away from the mind and into the heart, away from the “doings” and more towards “being”. This does not mean you won’t accomplish anything. This is still a very active time. It just means that the platform or foundation that supports your activities should be one of ease and flow and trust and balance.

One of the main themes of our times and one of the main tasks related to this theme is that of healing the relationship between the masculine and the feminine. For centuries in our timetable this experiment of separation has produced a tremendous wounding and imbalance between these two energies. We are just beginning to scratch the surface of this major theme and this month is a good place to start with allowing for the healing of your own wounds related to either one or both. Remember to have compassion, to come from forgiveness no matter how challenging that may be, and to stay out of the obstacles especially martyrdom, arrogance, stubbornness and impatience. Take responsibility for your own karmas, complete and resolve issues whenever possible, and allow yourself to heal at the deepest level possible. This is very much a time that supports serving yourself. Know what is yours to heal and what isn’t yours to heal. Allow others to be where they are in their process. Take care of your own backyard.

How the month shows up:

RELATIONSHIPS

This is a huge category this month as most unresolved issues or deep wounding have to do with other people. This is where the forgiveness and compassion come into play as well as the approach from the place of total responsibility for creating whatever it is that you experienced in this life. Many unresolved issues that still carry resentment, anger, blame or disappointment have to do with expectations. Expectations are a thing of the mind built on a story or a picture and they are usually not related to anything you are experiencing in the present. To be disappointed you have to have a comparison, a point of reference from the past and a judgment attached to it. In relationships you are always comparing and therefore judging and expecting. This is a good month for relationship recapitulation. You may want to make a mental list of those relationships from your past that still hold some unresolved issues for you; things you cannot let go of that are attached to an old expectation. The sooner you come into acceptance with compassion and forgiveness, you can come into resolution and healing resulting in freedom. Imagine that! Once you are free, you will stop recreating the same old thing.

The other side of this issue is to take responsibility for ways in which you have allegedly disappointed others. Ask yourself if this is their projection onto you or if you feel disappointed in yourself. If you feel disappointed in self, take responsibility and have compassion and forgiveness for yourself. Remember, another cannot heal you just as you cannot provide healing for another. You can only heal yourself. How many of you are still waiting for a father or a mother or a sister or brother or an ex lover or friend to say, “I’m sorry”? Say those words to yourself with compassion and forgiveness for creating whatever experience that caused your wound. And stop waiting for affirmation from the outside that you were right. Being “right” is really overvalued and there is no such thing anyway. Be neutral. That is the best position and the one affording the greatest power, presence and freedom. Especially practice neutrality around another’s projections. Beware of being captured by any projection or judgment or label that someone else wants to put on you, positive or negative.

Affirmations–Four Ways to Empower Your Thoughts

Monday, September 7th, 2009

You’ve probably heard that saying affirmations over and
over again can change your life.

But do affirmations really work?

The answer is yes and no.

When created in a certain way and expressed with power, they can
make a difference—especially when applied with other empowering
techniques.  However, affirmations can be ineffective and even
destructive when you use them the wrong way.

How do you create and use powerful affirmations to get maximum
results?

1.    Expand your awareness of affirmations.  They are your allies.
2.    Know how to create effective affirmations.
3.    Energize your affirmations.
4.    Use them for certain time periods and at powerful times.

1.  AFFIRMATIONS ARE YOUR HIDDEN ALLIES

Thoughts are your allies.  They provide instructions to your
subconscious mind, to your higher self. When repeated enough, they
will change your reality even if you start out by not believing in
what you repeat.  Over time, your continuous thoughts transform into
beliefs. Beliefs create reality.

Thoughts are forms of invisible energy. Everything on the physical
plane has a spiritual counterpart.

Visible forms of energy, such as money, your clothes, and the car
that you drive, once were invisible.  They were once thoughts that
coalesced into form and density until they materialized on this
physical plane.

Everything that exists on the material plane, once existed in the
world of thought, in a realm that is infinite and that is not bound
by time or space

2.  HOW TO CREATE AFFIRMATIONS

Before thoughts can transform into visible forms of energy, they
need to be energized with certain words and feelings.

Below are examples of weak affirmations vs. powerful, energized
affirmations.  See the notes below to understand why each statement
is either lacking energy or powerful.

Weak Affirmations

A)  “I pray that I can get rid of my debt”
B)  “I will meet the love of my life one day soon”

Powerful Affirmations

C)  “I am thankful for creating (_____) right now because it
allows me to have freedom and peace of mind in my life.”

D)  “”I am now attracting all the resources I need and everyday
I have great ideas that help me easily achieve my business goal
with joy and wisdom.”

Affirmation A — is too vague and is likely to produce vague
results at best.  Even worse, this affirmation focuses on a negative
thing— “debt” and by focusing on debt, you’re likely to actually
create more debt in your life.  Train yourself to focus your
attention on what you want and to avoid thinking about what you
don’t want.  Put your energy into happy thoughts.

Affirmation B — focuses on the future.  With this
type of affirmation, you are likely to delay producing the
relationship you desire since you are essentially telling the
universe to give it to you in the future (“I will”) rather than now.
You could be waiting a long time.

Affirmation C and D — use the powerful “I am” decree and these
words put you in the present (“I am now”) rather than the past or
future.  When using “I am”, only use positive thoughts; negatives
are best placed in the past.  By speaking as if what you want has
already occurred, you give your affirmations power with feelings
of excitement, gratitude and happiness.

3.    ENERGIZE YOUR AFFIRMATIONS

Focus on your affirmations throughout the day, especially when
you’re in a meditative-type state such as theta.
When your mind quiets down, you access deeper levels of
consciousness, and your thoughts become more energized and more
powerful.  When you’re in a deep state, such as theta, your
sub-conscious mind is more receptive to commands.

It’s especially important that you focus only on want you want and
avoid all thoughts about what you do not want.  Be keenly aware of
your thoughts and only hold those thoughts that you want to
materialize.

Relax and trust that your goal is now in the process of being
materialized. Many people have difficulty with this part.  They keep
themselves from relaxing and trusting because they are filled with
doubts.  Be aware that by associating heavy emotions, such as
tension and worry, with your goals, you’re making it difficult to
materialize what you desire.

Achieve your goals faster than you thought possible when you
relax and energize your ideas during states of theta.
Relax and start commanding your sub-conscious mind.

4.   BE AWARE OF THE POWER OF NUMBERS AND POWER TIMES

Don’t allow yourself to be discouraged if nothing seems to happen
when you practice affirmations. Reserve judgment.  Keep at it.
It takes 21 days to break a habit.  It takes 40 days to make a new
habit.

From a shamanic perspective, sunrise and sunset are very powerful
times to focus on your goals and affirmations.

At dawn and dusk, our brain waves (rhythms) are closer to theta.
Theta is linked to the world of spirit. And, when we are closer
to spirit, we have a stronger effect on the material plane.

Thoughts are invisible forms of energy that live in the world of
spirit.  When they are energized enough, they materialize on the
physical plane.

That doesn’t mean that you only focus on your affirmations during
those two times of the day.  It means that you take advantage of
those times to give your affirmations extra energy or power.

You need to say and feel your affirmations regularly throughout
each day.

If you say an affirmation just once or twice a day but for the rest
of the day fill your mind with negative thoughts, you’ll eliminate
the power of your affirmations.

If you want to get a new job and you say a positive affirmation
about finding a new job, but then follow it up with a series of
negative thoughts such as “There are no good jobs.” or “Nobody’s
hiring during this bad economy…” That kind of attitude will lead
to negative results, like not finding a job or finding a job that
you don’t like.

You need to be continually aware of your thoughts.  Be impeccable

with your thoughts.

You have unlimited inner power.

Discover how to access the deeper levels of consciousness to
energize your affirmations.

This is your life.  Make the most of it.

Six Ways to Produce Youth Hormones and Reduce Stress

Friday, May 8th, 2009

Meditation and meditative-oriented practices are just one of many tools that you can use to deeply relax and develop your inner power.  The benefits to doing so are many including reducing stress and stress-like symptoms, such insomnia and body aches, as well as preventing pre-mature aging.

Just like a carpenter needs to have many tools in his tool box to get a job done, you’ll also want to have many tools in your tool box to achieve deep relaxation and empowerment—especially in times of stress.  A carpenter needs to have more than a hammer to build a house.  So too, you’ll need to have many tools at your disposal to build a foundation of calmness and balance.  The more tools you have at your disposal, the more empowered you’ll be and the more benefits you’ll reap.

Maintaining a sense of calm in everyday life is more difficult than it is to be in balance under conditions of maximum stress.

Being in balance in normal everyday circumstances is vital to preserving your energy, your personal power, as I’ve explained on www.UnlimitedInnerPower.com.

Below are six ways to experience the power of relaxation and the benefits of nurturing your mind, body and spirit.  And, you don’t have to spend a dime.

>>> SIX WAYS TO COMBAT STRESS >>>

Here are easy and enjoyable ways to decrease stress and increase the production of youth hormones. You”ll soon be on your way to getting rid of “death” hormones such as cortisol.

1.  Practice meditative-type exercises.

2.  Get out in nature— A study in England found that after a walk in the country, 72% reported decreased levels of depression and said they felt less tense. And, 90% reported increased self-esteem.  A walk in the mall has no such effect.  When you connect with nature —the vitality of trees, plants, air and the sun, you access the power of creation and awesome energy.

3.  Exercise— It’s a proven way to decrease life-shortening and aging stress hormones. If you want to get even more out of exercise, do it in nature.  Walking uphill in nature is a fantastic way to strengthen your body, mind and spirit all at once. Walking in nature using peripheral vision for at least 30 minutes can create a state of alpha.

4.  Get a loving pet—The simple stroking of a loving pet has been proven to lower heart rate, decrease stress and anxiety while lowering blood pressure.  Even watching fish in an aquarium creates similar effects!

5.  Use your imagination—If you can’t get to nature or you don’t have a pet, enter a deep meditative state and imagine yourself being in nature, stroking a pet or whatever else soothes you.  Studies show that the mind and body can not tell the difference between imagination and “real” events on the physical plane! You can produce the same effects with your imagination that you can in real life!

6.  Be impeccable with your thoughts—Observe your thoughts and how you speak.  Become aware of how your thoughts make you feel. Thoughts produce feelings. Do your thoughts make you feel happy or down and anxious?  Continuous heavy emotions, such as fear and self-pity, create stress-related reactions in your body that trigger pre-mature aging and disease.

Did you know that when you are deeply relaxed and at ease, your body can not create dis-ease?  Disease is created when you are not at ease.  When you’re deeply relaxed and centered, your body can’t  produce stress-related chemicals that cause disease and pre-mature aging.

That’s right you can use meditation and other forms of deep relaxation—-that are free— to be younger, healthier and empowered.
